Hey guys, I was on Reddit when all of a sudden "Jedimastert" gave a casting call for modelers and Blender experts, I showed him a model of a pony I had made a while ago, and here I am!



Here it is. There is a bit of smoothing needed between the back legs and body but I can sort that out. I'm so excited to work on this project!

Welcome to the forums. I'm Piedoom0 (aka Senntenial), head of the project. That is quite a nice model you've got there, and I'm certainly interested on what else you have to offer. Would you mind sharing some other works you have done if any? Preferably finished models. Also what are your skills? Just modeling, or have you delved into things like rigging and texturing?

Agreed, the model is fantastic. I think I can to a bit for the smoothing of the legs to the body, but I'd have to look at the .blend file first. But seriously, waaaaay better than I could do.

I am primarily a modeler/texturer, but I know the ins and outs of Blender very well. I also have experience with coding and Photoshop, have a good eye for design, and am a fast learner.

(Also my friends tell me I have buckets and buckets of patience for mundane and repetitive tasks Razz)

I'm gonna try and clean the model up and make it lower poly before submitting it, cause right now the unsubdivided version is sitting around 6500 vertices Shocked

I'm really liking the work that you've got on your dA. It still looks as though you've been using more materials than textures, but I'll take your word for it. What really struck me was your computer fan. Being a steampunk-esque game we're gonna need a lot of machinery-type stuff and technical models being done. I'll talk with Neveda and AMT later on today and decide your fate.
Also if you sculpted any of that pone model I commend you, Blender's sculpt tools can be extremely temperamental.

I dont really do much sculpting, but I do use it to smooth models sometimes, and I do know how to sculpt.

Okay so I completely retopologized, smoothed and merged the legs, and decreased the vertex count 5:1. How does it look?



What is your preferred 3d filetype? I usually use .obj just cause, but I hear a lot of people use .fbx. (Of course I'll supply the .blend as well)

That is pretty great. And you did a good job lowering the polycount, it's barely noticeable. May I ask the number of tris?
But anyways, good news for you. Our little triumvirate has ruled in your favour. We've all found what you have in store to be quite impressive, and are happy to welcome you on to our little devteam. In that render, the tri count is 4284, but I have a subsurf modifier over everything. If i take it off, the tri count drops to 1428.

Wow! I'm pretty impressed with the smoothing. So you do most of your sculpting with vertices? Also, welcome to the team! I'm glad we have you on board. As for files, I'd prefer source files. I can take care of all of the exporting needs. For future notice, Unity uses fbx files.

If ATM is meaning the sculpt tools, well I find it much easier just to do good 'ol vert manipulation. Sculpting is better for higher poly more detailed stuff.
