| A idea came to me, and very rough in concept, and is only applicable if you want the non-unicorns to not use their "magic space" around their hooves (The kind that enables applejack or the powerpuff girls to use various tool despite lacking fingers). What if earth ponies and pegasi were equipped with hooked "gloves" (or gauntlets) that enabled them to wield 2-handed weapons and 1-handed weapons as if they had fingers. The idea is that the hooks on the gloves would go into the parts of the weapons (such an the trigger) and then be manipulated in the weapon to fire it, or to help support the weapon (support the grip of the gun) during firing, or help reload the weapons. I would imagine in the story that wide scale implementation of these "gloves" would be done to restrict access to firearms for the majority of ponies, so that only security personnel and/or military ponies can wield weapons, since their might be a general distrust between ponies especially between the "elite" and middle-class ponies. Excluding wrist mounted weapons, I've seen one concept of non-unicorns wielding firearms. http://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/149785?search=gunI found this concept to look a little silly myself. EDIT I think the concept is good actually. (I tried to make a pony wield an ak47 like a human, it was difficult.) Here are some improvisational blender renders to help communicate my concept. (the green faces/polygons are the "hooks" that support/fire the weapons.) PIC 1 In this picture the "glove" or "ring" helps support the grip of the ak47 so that the pony can fire it somewhat accurately (I realized that the heads of the ponies are impractically large, which makes it unlikely that they will be able to fire down the sight, so I just gave the AK-47 a improvisational laser sight) PIC 2 In this picture one sees that the glove has a small protrusion designed for pulling the triggers of ak-47s. This protrusion can also be seen in PIC 1. NOTE: The ak-47 and the pony were made by other people, I only take credit for assembling them for your display here. | |

| Well. We've discussed this. We still haven't come to a conclusion. I know where I'd like to see this go, but I don't think that Mr. Doom has fully made up his mind. Eh... Mr. Doom? What do you think the world is ready for at this point? | |

| I have no clue, but technical side note: Did you render that in Cycles? | |

| In responce to your question amtunlimited.
Maybe. The render might done in cycles, but I really don't know, I just loaded up someone else's blender scene, appended and scaled ak-47 parts, and posed the pony with the rig provided. But judging from the sandy look in the render, I say maybe. (I have little to no idea what rendering in cycles means or implies)

| Oh. hi thread. Back from not looking at clopart because I'm not a clopper. Anyway, I already had this figured out. I'm not sure if I ever released the Railgun photos, but basically the triggerguard was expanded enough for those big pesky hooves to fit into. your idea was neat, but a tad complicated. | |

| As a quick question piedoom, how do you intend for the ponies to fire down the sights or their weapons? (if you are going to implement firing down the sights)
I ask the question because when I was posing the pony such that she was holding the ak-47 like a human would, I found her head to be too large for her eyes to meet the iron sights, and her shoulder too far down her body.
(the below sentences are only a suggestion) Will you just make the ponies use exaggerated iron sights that are long enough to creep up to the height of the ponies head, or will you give them laser sights? like what I did. Holograms also might be worth a thought.

| It is worth a though... On one hand I ADORE iron sights in games, and get sort of upset when they aren't available (like in Half Life) But the controls would essentially have to be mouse right click to aim. And that raises issues, as I had hoped pressing right + left buttons at the same time would put the player into rune drawing mode (which I'll discuss in further updates.) You also raise some valid issues... Their faces would be quite cumbersome to meet the sights. So how about a compromise? How about a spell that zooms in the weapon? Or something easy like that... All of these game mechanisms are hard to sort out... | |

| I'm in favor of the dexterous telekinesis that I posted in one of my own question threads oh so long ago. I'd make it very short range but it'd still be there. | |

| I for one dig Neveda's idea, and the sandy texture was why I asked. | |

| Piedoom if you haven't figured out how to make those scopes on the weapons creep up to the eyes of the ponies, I offer a picture I found, which should provide at least 1 possible solution to gun geometry woes. It seems they managed to get the scope up to the eye by adding a bunch of excess "gun" atop the hoove and then adding in a rather elevated scope on top of that.
